Sunderland have confirmed that teenage striker has joined Morecambe on a one-month loan deal as he looks to gain valuable first-team experience away from the Academy of Light.
The 18-year-old will spend time with the National League North outfit until November 19, marking another important stage in his development after signing his first professional contract with the Black Cats during the summer.
His temporary switch is designed to provide him with regular senior football and an opportunity to test himself against experienced opposition as he continues his progression through Sunderland’s youth system.

Confirming the move, Sunderland announced that the forward had completed a one-month loan spell with Morecambe, wishing the youngster well during his time away from Wearside.
The striker arrived at Sunderland from Liverpool’s academy in 2024 and has since emerged as an exciting attacking prospect. His performances last season reportedly convinced the club to begin discussions over a professional deal, with talks opening in May before he officially committed his future to the Black Cats.
Neill enjoyed an impressive campaign in front of goal, registering 16 goals and seven assists in 30 appearances across all competitions. His contribution later increased to 23 direct goal involvements, highlighted by a memorable hat-trick against Everton in Sunderland’s under-18s’ 4-0 victory at the Academy of Light.
Those performances demonstrated the teenager’s finishing ability and attacking instincts, strengthening the belief that he could develop into a valuable prospect for Sunderland in the coming years.
The youngster also comes from a footballing family. He is the son of former Australia international Lucas Neill, who enjoyed a career as a Premier League defender and has supported his son’s development in the game.

Now, attention turns to Morecambe, where the young forward will aim to translate his impressive youth-level performances into success in senior football.
The loan provides Neill with an opportunity to adapt to the physical demands and competitive nature of the men’s game while gaining valuable minutes on the pitch.
With his temporary spell scheduled to run until November 19, Sunderland will hope the experience accelerates his development and prepares him for the next stage of his career when he returns to Wearside.
