The Atlanta Braves will wrap up their two-game series against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT at Nationals Park.
Washington took the opening game of the series on Tuesday, defeating Atlanta by a 9-5 score.
Ahead of Wednesday’s finale, the Braves announced several roster transactions, including the designation for assignment of 27-year-old left-handed pitcher Hayden Harris.
Atlanta selected right-hander Elieser Hernández to its major league roster and optioned right-hander Blake Burkhalter to Triple-A Gwinnett following Tuesday night’s game. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the organization designated Harris for assignment.

Harris made his major league debut with the Braves during the 2025 season. In three appearances with Atlanta last year, he recorded a 3.38 ERA over 2 2/3 innings. However, he has not appeared in a major league game for the Braves this season.
The left-hander spent most of the year in Triple-A, where he struggled to find consistency. Across 46 innings with Gwinnett, Harris posted a 5.28 ERA and 1.72 WHIP while recording 61 strikeouts. Those struggles eventually led Atlanta to send him down to Double-A.
His stint at the lower level was brief. Harris allowed three runs over 2 2/3 innings in two appearances before the Braves ultimately designated him for assignment.
The move marks a significant turnaround from his strong 2025 minor league campaign. Last season, Harris was dominant between Double-A and Triple-A, compiling a 0.52 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts across 52 innings.
