Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung is expected to be out for at least 10 days, possibly longer, after being diagnosed with an adductor strain. The injury was confirmed through an MRI, and Jung was removed from the lineup ahead of Thursday’s game.
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker expressed optimism that Jung’s time away won’t extend too long. “Josh is such a dedicated worker,” Schumaker said Saturday. “I believe he’ll return faster than the standard 14-day timeline. His progress has been excellent. His efforts in batting practice, field work, and live situations were about to show up on the field. In the first games, he hit the ball as hard as anyone. Honestly, if issues were going to appear, it’s better they happen now.”
Jung, 28, struggled again in 2025, hitting .251 with 14 home runs and 61 RBIs across 131 games. His standout rookie season came in 2023 when the Rangers won the World Series. That year, he batted .266 with 23 homers and 70 RBIs in 122 games, earning an All-Star nod and finishing fourth in AL Rookie of the Year voting. In the 2023 postseason, Jung hit .308 with three homers and eight RBIs, including a .350 average in five World Series games.

Infielder Justin Foscue, sidelined with a strained right hamstring, will also miss at least 10 days. Schumaker, however, said this won’t impact Foscue’s chances of making the roster. The 27-year-old first-round pick in 2020 has struggled at the plate, going 3-for-51 (.059) over 19 games in the last two seasons. “It only means he’ll miss some at-bats, which is unfortunate,” Schumaker noted. “But with four weeks of camp left, he still has time to build up and get the reps he needs.”
