Auburn basketball continues to build continuity heading into the 2026–27 season, keeping a key piece of its young core in place as the program looks to build on late-season momentum. After finishing the previous year with a strong postseason push, the Tigers are emphasizing roster stability, and that effort took a major step forward with the return of one of their most versatile forwards.
The freshman forward has officially announced he will return to Auburn for the upcoming campaign, a decision the program confirmed this morning. His return adds to a growing list of players choosing to stay, as he joins guards Simon Walker and Kevin Overton in committing to another year under head coach Steven Pearl. Keeping multiple contributors together gives Auburn a valuable foundation as it aims to take the next step.

The 6-foot-8 forward from Houston made an immediate impact during his freshman season, appearing in all 38 games. He logged significant minutes, averaging 27.4 per contest while earning 21 starts. Sebastian Williams-Adams showcased his all-around ability by averaging 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, along with 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks. His efficiency stood out as well, shooting 51 percent from the field and adding a perimeter element with 12 made three-pointers. His combination of size, defensive activity, and offensive versatility made him a reliable contributor throughout the season.
As a team, Auburn finished with a 22–16 record. While the Tigers fell short of reaching the NCAA Tournament in Pearl’s first year leading the program, they responded in impressive fashion by regrouping in the postseason. Auburn surged through the National Invitation Tournament, winning five consecutive games to capture the NIT Championship and end the year on a high note.

That experience appears to have shaped the mindset of returning players, including Williams-Adams, who sees the potential in building around a proven core. “We have seen what we can do in the NIT with how we performed. I think for us, that’s important, looking at what our next chapter is,” Williams-Adams said after the NIT win, per AL.com. “It’s important to realize, like, OK, this core won the NIT together. What could we do with a roster where we know what we have? We can just add pieces to complement it.”
With continuity, experience, and confidence from last season’s finish, Auburn enters the new campaign with growing optimism.
