Surprise score prediction made for Southampton ahead Rotherham United clash

Southampton enters this weekend’s encounter against Rotherham United having won their previous two games.

They had lost four consecutive Championship games before resuming their winning ways against Leeds United and then beating Stoke City on Tuesday.

Russell Martin’s team is now tenth in the table, but they will be looking to move up the table.

Rotherham United’s woes were compounded by a late defeat to Bristol City Friday night. After Tyler Blackett appeared to have secured a point, they were defeated 2-1 at home by a second Tommy Conway goal.

After extending their losing streak to five games, the Millers are now in 23rd place with only five points in ten games.

Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the game…

James Ray

“While Southampton haven’t had the best start to life in the Championship, they should be on a different level than Rotherham United.” The skill on their team far dwarfs what Matt Taylor has at his disposal, and that should be evident here.

“The Millers can put up a fight on their day, but with no points to their name away from home, I don’t see their winless streak coming to an end here.”

“The Saints should be able to relax here. I expect them to win 3-0 to make it three straight wins.”

Southampton vs Rotherham United prediction: 3-0

Luke Phelps

“For Southampton, the tables are turning. They’re winning again, and they’re becoming a joy to watch under Martin.

“However, home games against lowly opposition are arguably the most difficult for teams like Southampton.” The pressure is on them, whereas Rotherham can play without it.

“I’d like to see Rotherham do well this season, but I doubt it.” “I believe the Saints will win this game.”

Southampton vs Rotherham United prediction: 3-1
