Done deals: Bulls confirm contract offer to two players

The Chicago Bulls added two players with two home preseason games remaining.

Derrick Favors and Kahlil Whitney were signed to training camp contracts by the organization late Monday.

Favors is a fascinating addition. The former No. 3 overall pick was out of the league last season except for a 10-day contract with Atlanta, where he did not play. He did, however, spend ten of his twelve NBA seasons with the Utah Jazz, where he averaged 11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks a game. In 39 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2021-22, he averaged 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Whitney, a 6-foot-6-inch big from Kentucky, went undrafted after growing up in Chicago. He spent last season in the G League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Guard Carlik Jones and forward Terry Taylor have non-guaranteed contracts with the Bulls. Though Favors is a long chance to make the team, his stature could be advantageous in a guard-heavy lineup. Taylor, despite being 24 years old, is a small forward.
