Carlton Palmer reveals the transfer fee Leicester city will demand for star

According to Carlton Palmer’s exclusive interview with Football League World, Leicester City are anticipated to seek at least £15 million for Inter Milan target Kelechi Iheanacho in January.

The 27-year-old has piqued the curiosity of numerous Premier League and European clubs ahead of the January transfer window, and a potential fee has already been proposed.

Iheanacho has made 13 appearances for Leicester City this season, scoring five goals and assisting two more in all competitions, as he continues to compete with experienced attacker Jamie Vardy.

Similarly, Leicester City now lead the Championship standings by two points over Ipswich Town and ten points clear of the chasers. The club has won ten of their first 11 league games, losing only once, and travels to Swansea City this weekend.

Following their relegation from the Premier League last season, the Nigerian international was the subject of multiple transfer queries during the summer transfer window, but he ultimately remained with the Championship club.

The forward’s contract is slated to expire at the conclusion of the season, so whether they stay or twist will be a topic of discussion in the coming weeks. Similarly, Iheanacho gets paid in the Premier League, therefore his decision to stay has consequences.  Similarly, Iheanacho is also earning Premier League wages which means his decision to stay is having a financial impact on the Championship side.

Speaking to Football League World, Palmer stated…

“Inter Milan are the latest club to be running the rule over Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Leicester sit top of the Championship, and Iheanacho has scored three goals in his last three games.

Iheanacho rules out Foxes exit

“Leicester have a decision to make over the Nigerian international, he’s still earning Premier League wages, and his contract is up in the summer.”

Regarding his price tag, Palmer added…

“It won’t be what they could have got had he gone this summer, but I think Leicester will be looking for £15 million plus, or they may take a view to keep him until the end of the season and get promoted and see where they are then.”

Author’s Opinion

The Nigerian international has appeared to regain his old form for the Foxes, leaving them with a difficult decision to make in the coming weeks.

Iheanacho might leave Leicester for free in the summer, forcing the Foxes to cash in on their attacker unless they can tie him down to a new contract, but that remains to be seen.
