Billy Donovan pinpoints major reason behind Bulls agonizing loss to Kevin Durant, Suns

The Suns defeated the Bulls in a heartbreaking game on Wednesday, and a slow start was a major factor in the outcome.
Wednesday night’s game between the Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns at the United Center was excellent. With the exception of the first quarter, which was close the entire time, the Suns entered the game as slight favorites.

The Suns took the lead quickly and controlled the game’s first quarter. The Suns led 24-6 with 5:52 left in the first quarter. But the Bulls were not going away without a fight. With just under eight minutes left in the half, Chicago burst back, cutting the lead to two.
From that point on, it was close throughout, and the game ended up going to overtime. The Bulls put themselves in a good position to win, but the Suns got the job done with a 116-115 win.

In the end, you can’t expect to win a game when you’re down 18 points. Despite outplaying the Suns for much of the game, the Bulls’ lackluster start proved to be their downfall in this one. Billy Donovan, the head coach, is aware that it is not possible.

Following the game, Bulls head coach Billy Donovan stated, “The other thing that was disappointing to me was the way we started the game.” “We kind of emerged to observe the progress of the game. I’m not sure how much, maybe 16 or 18 points, we lost by. I subbed pretty early in the fourth quarter to get maybe a different energy in there, and then we obviously had a really good second quarter defensively.”

The Bulls outscored the Suns 109-92 the remainder of the way after falling behind 24- 6. In overtime, Chicago led by four points as well, but they were unable to secure the victory. The Bulls, who are currently 3-6 on the year, will take on the Detroit Pistons at home on Sunday.
