Newcastle United plot three loan signings in January

Newcastle are looking to recruit three players in the January transfer window as their injury issue increases, according to Football Insider.

The suspension of Sandro Tonali has left the Magpies short in midfield, and a fresh signing in that area is still seen to be a priority as the new year approaches.

Newcastle chiefs and coaches are thought to be concerned that their season may now unravel with their roster down to bare bones.

As a result, signings at centre-back and in attack are now being considered, despite Financial Fair Play regulations making any deals tough to complete.

The Magpies are expected to focus on loan signings during the mid-season window, but Saudi Pro League swoops appear to be off the table.

However, Football Insider stated on Monday (13 November) that Newcastle are considering all options in order to upgrade their team in January.
Premier League teams will vote later this month to prohibit Newcastle from using their ties to sign players from the Middle East on short-term contracts.

Tonali was the club’s greatest summer signing, but he has subsequently been suspended for betting rule violations, severely limiting the first-team roster at St James’ Park.

Injuries have also sidelined Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes, Javier Manquillo, Matt Targett, Sven Botman, Elliot Anderson, Jacob Murphy, and Dan Burn.

Eddie Howe’s side’s frailty was on full show as they were defeated 2-0 away at Bournemouth on Saturday (11 November), falling further behind the Premier League’s top four.
Newcastle aim to have Wilson and Isak back in action for their next match against Chelsea on November 25th, but they are still looking to enhance their attacking options with the signing of a new striker.

The Magpies are bottom of their Champions League group, with two games remaining before the new year against AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
