Former NBA player throws insulting comment at Miami Heat

Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins says he doesn’t anticipate the Miami Heat to make it past the first round of the NBA playoffs
ESPN commentator and former NBA player Kendrick Perkins does not believe the Miami Heat will repeat their current postseason success.

The Heat lost 110-106 against the Boston Celtics on Sunday. After the game, ESPN Bet gave the Heat +1700 odds on winning the East. Perkins was asked about the team’s chances of returning to the NBA Finals, and his initial response was humorous.

“There’s a better chance of me actually losing weight this year, and it’s not happening,” Perkins told reporters.

He went on to compare the Heat and Jimmy Butler to the major NFL story from Sunday.

“The Heat are not gonna sneak up on anyone, and the Heat does not have a Patrick Mahomes,”

Perkins was quoted as saying. “Patrick Mahomes is the guy who can take any player, put them in any situation, and bring them home.” Jimmy has failed to reach the NBA Finals every time he has attempted it.”

Perkins concluded his argument by predicting that the Heat will not even make it past the first round.

Following their loss on Sunday, the Heat are now the eighth seed in the East. The squad concluded the regular season in the same place as last year. The Heat advanced to the NBA Finals last year. It was only the second time in history that an eight-seed advanced so far in the playoffs. Who’s to say it won’t happen again?

The Heat have had recent playoff success as well. The squad advanced to the 2020 NBA Finals as the fifth seed. The Heat also advanced to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals two years ago.

Some Heat supporters disagreed with what the commentator had to say. After all, Perkins lost the 2012 NBA Finals against the Heat.
