Ex-Bills RB Frank Gore Issues Warning After Son Signs With Buffalo

The renowned running back, who spent one season with the Buffalo Bills near the end of his career, spoke out when his son signed with the team on April 27. Frank Gore Jr. went undrafted following a successful career at Southern Miss, but he promptly signed as an undrafted free agent on Saturday.

The younger Gore will have a chance to make the team in Buffalo, where there is no experienced depth behind starter James Cook entering next season.

Frank Gore Sr.: ‘My Bloodline is for Real’

Speaking with CBS Sports reporter Josina Anderson, the elder Gore expressed his excitement that his son had signed with the Bills and feels he can make an immediate impact.

“We’re okay. “We’re going to Buffalo, man, to do our thing,” Gore Sr. told Anderson on X. “Tell them they better be ready, trust me.”

The younger Gore had a significant effect during his four seasons at Southern Miss, rushing for 4,022 yards and 26 touchdowns. Though he was regarded as a potential Day 3 draft pick, Gore Jr. did not hear his name called but signed with Buffalo shortly after the draft ended.

“I understand what I’m raising. People slept on my son. “They slept on me, too,” Gore added. “They will see. My bloodline is true. Our (pre-draft) tests were identical. All the scouts were saying, “You can tell that’s my son.”

Gore Sr. spent the 2019 season with the Bills, running for 599 yards and two touchdowns while also catching 13 passes for 100 yards. He helped the Bills make the playoffs that season.

Gore Sr. told Anderson he had a lot of faith in Bills general manager Brandon Beane.

“He’s the real deal,” Gore Sr. told Anderson. “I’m glad to have gotten my son to this point. We are come to play. Buffalo has a dog, I assure you.”

Bills Address Their Backfield

The Bills entered the draft with only James Cook and Ty Johnson returning from last year’s backfield, but they took additional steps to create depth during the draft. They took Kentucky running back Ray Davis with the 128th overall pick, providing size and strength behind Cook.

The 5-foot-8, 211-pound running back is regarded as a versatile option and passing threat. According to Katherine Fitzgerald of the Buffalo News, he caught 33 passes for 323 yards and seven touchdowns in his one season at Kentucky, while also scoring 14 times on the ground.

“I’m a three-down back who can protect, who can run, but also be very valuable asset in the pass game,” he said. “My goal is always for the defensive coordinator to be unsure how to prepare for me. Again, try to put a linebacker on me or a free safety on me. Just know that when he’s in the game, he’s a three-down threat. “He can run and catch.
