The New York Yankees are receiving some bad news. According to MLB.com, Yankees star prospect and outfielder Jasson Dominguez will be placed on the injured list for the organization’s triple-A team. Dominguez was lifted from a game with triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
Dominguez is one of the Yankees’ best prospects in the farm system. He’s from the Dominican Republic. Dominguez appeared in only a few games with the Yankees in 2023, but he has yet to participate this season. The outfielder was already suffering from a major injury, so this only makes things worse.
Dominguez in the minors this season
The outfielder has a.356 batting average this season. He has six homers and 13 RBI. This season, he has made his way through the Yankees’ minor league system, visiting practically every organization. The young outfielder appeared to be on track to return to the major leagues.
Unfortunately, injuries have slowed him down. Dominguez underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this spring after suffering a rupture, but he appeared to be on the mend. He was hitting again on his rehab assignment with the Yankees’ triple-A affiliate in Pennsylvania. His current injury is delaying down his recuperation. It is unknown at the time of writing whether his latest condition is related to his previous tear.
On Sunday, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Dominguez on the disabled list for seven days.
Dominguez played eight games with the Bronx Bombers in 2023. He hit.258, with seven RBIs. That wasn’t too bad given he just had 31 at-bats and had never played major league baseball. Yankees supporters are interested to see how the outfielder develops as the team attempts to return to the American League playoffs.

New York is now having one of its best seasons in recent memory. The Bronx Bombers became the first MLB team this season to achieve 50 victories. The club is attempting to return to the AL playoffs following a poor 82-80 record in 2023. At the moment, it appears Dominguez is not even needed by the major club, so fans are hope their young hero gets the rest he needs.
New York seeks to keep their winning streak going on Sunday when they face their bitter rivals, the Boston Red Sox. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 Eastern.
