The Buffalo Bills made a brilliant move by promoting Joe Brady to interim offensive coordinator midway through the 2023 season and then naming him the full-time OC in 2024. Brady returns for the 2025 season, but not without exploring head coaching opportunities first.
During the 2024 offseason, Brady interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ head coaching position. Later in the season, he also met with the Jets and Saints regarding their head coach openings.
At one point, there was significant buzz suggesting Brady might land the Saints job, but he ultimately withdrew from consideration and committed to another year in Buffalo. However, if he continues to produce results with the Bills’ offense in 2025, it’s widely expected that he’ll be leading an NFL team as a head coach by 2026.
Several teams could be potential suitors if they decide to part ways with their current coaches. One such team is the Miami Dolphins. While head coach Mike McDaniel is known for his explosive offenses early in the season, Miami has consistently faded in December, often falling short in the playoffs or missing them entirely. If the Dolphins decide to go in a new direction but still want an offensive-minded leader, Brady could be an ideal fit.

Other possible destinations for Joe Brady in 2026:
New York Giants
With GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll — both formerly with the Bills — the Giants’ struggles have cast doubt on their future. The team has underperformed, and the Daniel Jones contract may prove costly. Owner John Mara is reportedly growing impatient, and if things don’t turn around, New York could be in the market for a fresh start, with Brady a logical candidate.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns have been mired in dysfunction since acquiring Deshaun Watson on a fully guaranteed $230 million deal. While ownership has taken responsibility for that decision, blame often trickles down. If Cleveland underachieves again — even with two rookie QBs in the fold — GM Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski could be replaced, and Brady could enter the conversation.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are another franchise facing pressure. Anthony Richardson’s development has been slow, and the decision to bring in Daniel Jones as competition raises eyebrows. If the team falters again, owner Jim Irsay may not hesitate to fire head coach Shane Steichen, opening yet another door for Brady.
In short, if Brady continues to succeed in Buffalo, several franchises — including the Dolphins, Giants, Browns, and Colts — could be lining up to make him their next head coach in 2026.
