Earlier this week, the St. Louis Cardinals dealt right-hander Dustin May to the Milwaukee Brewers as part of a trade that also involved left-handed reliever JoJo Romero.
May was in the midst of his first season with the Cardinals after arriving from the Boston Red Sox. Across 21 starts, he posted a 5-7 record with a 4.38 ERA before being moved at the trade deadline.
The Cardinals announced the deal on X on Aug. 3, writing: “We have acquired OF Alexander Frias and OF Josiah Ragsdale from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for RHP Dustin May and LHP JoJo Romero.”

Not long after the trade became official, May took to Instagram to thank the Cardinals organization and its fans.
He wrote: “St. Louis it was an absolute pleasure”
The heartfelt message quickly gained traction, collecting more than 17,000 likes within the first 24 hours.
Several teammates and fans also reacted in the comments.
Cardinals pitcher Michael McGreevy joked: “You could have at least left the football for me and KD😭”
One fan, @pedro_pages_glazer, wrote: “Dude I love dustin may almost as much as pedro pages. 😭 Can’t wait for you to come back in the offseason 😂”

May was selected in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft and has now spent parts of seven major league seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Cardinals before his move to Milwaukee.
In 92 career appearances, the hard-throwing right-hander owns a 24-27 record with a 3.99 ERA, bringing valuable experience to a Brewers club looking to strengthen its pitching staff for the postseason push.
