BREAKING: East Carolina Lands Big-Time Quarterback Commitment in Major Recruiting Win

East Carolina has added a major piece to its future quarterback room, securing a commitment from prolific Florida signal-caller, a 2027 standout prospect from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He announced his decision after recently earning an offer from the Pirates following a throwing session in front of ECU’s coaching staff. The South Florida standout quickly built strong relationships with the program, which helped seal his decision to head to Greenville.

“After meeting with Coach Davis and seeing his vision for me in his offense, that was it for me,” He said following his commitment. “I already loved the school, but that made it official.”

The quarterback also highlighted his trust in head coach Blake Harrell and the offensive staff as key factors in his pledge, noting their development plan and offensive identity as major selling points.

East Carolina’s staff responded enthusiastically when Perrone informed them of his decision, with the quarterback setting up an official visit shortly after his commitment.

James Perrone, Miami Central, Quarterback

James Perrone brings an impressive résumé to ECU despite still being early in his high school career. He has thrown for more than 7,700 career passing yards, showing consistent production against top competition in South Florida. During his junior season alone, he posted over 3,200 passing yards with 33 touchdowns while limiting turnovers, while also contributing significantly as a runner.

He is ranked among the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class and is expected to transfer to St. Thomas Aquinas for his senior season, one of Florida’s most competitive high school programs.

For East Carolina, the commitment is an early foundation piece for its 2027 recruiting class, with Perrone projected as a potential long-term leader of the offense.

With his arm talent, mobility, and experience against elite competition, Perrone becomes one of the most important early pledges in ECU’s upcoming cycle as the Pirates continue building their future roster.
