Kentucky’s offseason has taken another difficult turn as the Wildcats lose yet another valuable piece from last season’s roster. With the transfer portal continuing to reshape college basketball, roster battles have become just as important as games on the court. For Kentucky fans hoping to see continuity and experience return to Lexington, this latest move is another frustrating reminder of how quickly things can change in today’s game.
A veteran forward who brought toughness, rebounding, and defensive intensity to the Wildcats has officially chosen to continue his career elsewhere. Instead of returning to Kentucky, he will remain in the SEC and suit up for a conference rival, giving another program the benefit of his proven production and experience.
Kentucky forward has announced that he is transferring to LSU for what will be his final season of college basketball. The move keeps him in one of the nation’s toughest conferences while giving LSU an immediate-impact veteran as the Tigers begin a new chapter under head coach Will Wade.
Before arriving at Kentucky, Mouhamed Dioubate spent two seasons at Alabama under Nate Oats, where he developed into a physical, hard-working frontcourt presence. Across his college career, he has already appeared in 101 games, including nearly 60 SEC matchups, making him one of the more battle-tested players available in the portal.
Last season with Kentucky, Dioubate averaged 8.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal per game. He earned praise for his efficiency around the basket, relentless energy on defense, and ability to impact games without needing plays designed for him. His versatility and motor made him a reliable contributor throughout the season.

For LSU, this is a major early win in roster rebuilding. Dioubate becomes the first transfer addition of Will Wade’s second stint in Baton Rouge, arriving at a time when the Tigers are replacing their entire 2025–26 roster. Landing an experienced SEC player gives LSU a strong foundation as they continue rebuilding through the portal.
Kentucky fans will especially remember Dioubate’s standout performance in the NCAA Tournament. In the Wildcats’ first-round victory over Santa Clara, he delivered 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks in one of his best games of the season.
While LSU celebrates a major addition, Kentucky must now regroup after suffering another significant offseason loss.
