BREAKING: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza makes big Bo Bichette announcement

The New York Mets avoided being swept by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon, closing out the interleague series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle with an impressive 7-1 victory. A major reason behind the win was Bo Bichette, who delivered one of his strongest performances of the season and earned praise from manager Carlos Mendoza afterward.

Bichette was flawless at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with one run scored and three RBIs. His biggest moment came in the fourth inning when he ripped a two-run single that gave the Mets a 3-1 advantage, shifting momentum firmly in New York’s favor. From there, the Mets stayed in control and cruised to the convincing road win.

Following the game, Mendoza expressed optimism that Bichette may finally be finding his rhythm after what has been a frustrating stretch for both the player and the team this season.

“Hopefully, now, he continues to get results and he gets going here. I feel like this guy has been very unlucky, I hate to say it. He’s a good hitter,” Mendoza said after the victory.

Despite Bichette’s struggles at times this year, there are still signs that improvement could be on the horizon. Entering the series finale against Seattle, he carried a .239 BABIP, a statistic that often points toward bad luck rather than poor overall performance.

Bo Bichette's hitting woes are not the early concern Mets should worry about

However, one noticeable difference in Bichette’s game has been the lack of power compared to previous seasons. Through the 2026 campaign, he owns just a .310 slugging percentage, a steep decline from the production he showed in 2025 during his final year with the Toronto Blue Jays. For perspective, the two-time All-Star has maintained a .457 career slugging percentage overall.

Bichette will now try to build on Wednesday’s breakout performance when the Mets travel to San Diego for a three-game series against the Padres beginning Friday at Petco Park.
