MAJOR TRANSFER BOMBSHELL: Jaissle Reaches Contract Terms With Premier League Striker as Solution to Alexander Isak’s Goalscoring Void

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle is reportedly keen to reunite with England international in the January transfer window as the Magpies look to strengthen their attacking options.

According to Saudi journalist Khalid Al-Shenaif, Jaissle wants to bring his former Al-Ahli striker to St James’ Park, although no agreement between the clubs has been confirmed.

Newcastle made a promising start to the campaign, recording a victory over Tottenham alongside draws against Liverpool and Bournemouth. They also progressed beyond West Brom and Millwall in the League Cup.

However, a difficult spell in the Premier League saw the Magpies win just one of their next four matches, prompting questions from sections of the fanbase about Jaissle’s position.

The pressure eased after Newcastle secured a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, strengthening the head coach’s position following reports that his job was safe.

Ivan Toney: Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli sign Brentford striker - BBC Sport

Al-Shenaif has claimed that Jaissle is determined to sign Toney, who continues to play for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.

The journalist posted on X: “Jaissle definitely wants to sign him. If this happens, it will undoubtedly be a major crisis.”

The report was also relayed by WinWin, which stressed that negotiations have not yet resulted in an official agreement between Newcastle and Al-Ahli.

Nevertheless, the growing speculation has raised questions about whether the Saudi club could lose one of its most influential players to a Premier League return.

Toney previously worked under Jaissle at Al-Ahli, giving the Newcastle manager first-hand knowledge of the striker’s qualities and what he could bring to his team.

Newcastle invested heavily in their attack during the summer, bringing Matias Fernández-Pardo from Lille in a deal reportedly worth around £51 million.

However, the Belgian forward is yet to score in five appearances across all competitions this season. Yoane Wissa and Will Osula have each managed one goal, leaving questions about the team’s overall attacking output.

The Magpies have struggled to find a consistent replacement for Alexander Isak, who departed St James’ Park last summer.

Toney could offer a different dimension to Newcastle’s attack, given his experience in English football and his impressive record in Saudi Arabia.

The England international has scored 12 goals in just eight Saudi Pro League appearances for Al-Ahli this season, underlining his current form in front of goal.

Al-Ahli Face Fight to Keep Their Star Striker

Despite Toney’s impressive performances, Al-Ahli are reportedly facing uncertainty over his long-term future amid the growing Newcastle links.

WinWin noted that the speculation remains unconfirmed but acknowledged that the striker’s connection with Jaissle could raise concerns within the Saudi club.

Al-Ahli are currently fifth in the Saudi Pro League standings, six points behind leaders Al-Hilal, despite Toney’s prolific start to the campaign.

For Newcastle, a January move would represent a potential opportunity to add proven goalscoring quality as they seek greater consistency in the Premier League.

However, with no official agreement in place, a reunion between Jaissle and Toney remains a developing transfer story rather than a confirmed deal.
