Trade discussions involving Detroit or Boston could be more realistic. Detroit owns one of the worst records in baseball, though parting with Greene—who remains under team control for several more seasons—would be surprising. That reality makes Duran the most attainable option. Boston has a crowded outfield and may be more open to making a deal.
Trout would be the most eye-catching addition, especially given his local ties to the Philadelphia area. However, there is growing skepticism around the league that the Angels are willing to trade the future Hall of Famer anytime soon. That uncertainty makes Buxton an appealing alternative. When healthy, he is one of the game’s most dynamic players, combining elite defense with impact offense. The downside is his injury history, which has limited his availability throughout his career.
Any move for an outfielder would likely affect the current right-field situation. The Phillies already operate with one of the highest payrolls in baseball, but if they want a legitimate chance to contend for the postseason, a bold trade decision may be necessary.
