David Prutton makes score prediction for Sunderland v Norwich clash and picks winner

David Prutton has revealed his prediction ahead of this weekend’s match between Sunderland and Norwich City.

In an article for Sky Sports, the former midfielder predicted that the two teams will play a ‘open’ game at the Stadium of Light.

While Sunderland should not be concerned just yet, their home game against Norwich is a must-win after three straight defeats.

The Black Cats fared considerably better in their 1-0 loss to Canaries in midweek, but they still lack the cutting edge to compete with the best in the Championship.

However, with David Wagner’s team conceding the most goals in the second division (24), Norwich could give the hosts with an opportunity to reignite their striker’s season.

Though Leicester and Ipswich Town are the only team to score more, meaning Sunderland’s defence are going to have to be at their best.

Prutton, on the other hand, predicts a 2-1 win for the Black Cats, saying:

“Sunderland have had a difficult couple of weeks, which is going to happen in this league at the best of times, but especially when you have such a young side.” They also desperately need a goal scorer. “With the exception of Jack Clarke, no one is really chipping in.”This season, Norwich is the place to go for goals. Only the top two scorers have more, and no one has given up more. This should be a close game, but I’m going with a Black Cats victory.”

Sunderland NEED to win this weekend

Sunderland are going through a difficult period, but this match against Norwich City is the ideal opportunity to turn things around.

The Canaries have not won in their previous four games (D1 L3), and players like Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts will be eager to take on their failing defense.

It will also be intriguing to watch who plays up front, since they will be fully aware of Norwich’s defensive shortcomings.

Anything less than three points will be a letdown this weekend, but a win can jumpstart a great run with extremely winnable games ahead.
